It was just a few weeks ago. I was over at my Daughter's house playing with the grand kids. Grant, who was just short of three at the time says to his my son-in-law, "Daddy, does Poppy have a baby in his tummy?" OMG! Sure, my wife has been bugging me to get in shape for years. But that just sounds like a nag. From out of the mouth's of babes, I was bound and determine to either deliver that baby or know the reason why. : /
I started out trying to do it myself. I remembered a few exercises from High School (back in the '60's), but to be honest I was a little worried about hurting myself. And in the loneliness of my bedroom, it was hard to stay motivated. Who knows if I was doing these darn jumping jacks the right way. How many push ups would it take to build up my poor sagging chest? Were leg lifts the best way to get my 6 pack back (LOL.)
A few weeks earlier I had gone to a business networking meeting and met another Boomer who left me his card. We agreed to talk later about his business. I thought, maybe I should call John, the Boomer Fitness Guy and see if he could help me do this "getting in shape thing a lot smarter and faster than I could on my own.
We had our first session, and I was totally, absolutely blown away by his approach. He worked me really hard, but each move was just for a few reps. And John obviously cared about my specific needs (I have AC arthritis in both shoulders), and made sure that we were careful not to push too hard in areas that I wasn't ready to handle.
Anyway, since I've been going to see John Knox, I've been using what I learn each week to improve my home workouts, and I can already see the results. I can feel the results, too. More energy and especially flexibility. I'm almost able to put my palms on the floor, and my knees have stopped cracking on squats. : )
John has programs for everybody. He can come to your place or meet you in a local park for private sessions at $75 per session. Or you can join one of his boot camps:
Sundays at 11:00 Clover Park at 26th and Ocean Park - Meet at the Southern Section Near the airport ... look for the cones
Saturdays at 9:00 in the sand at Parking Lot 4 South. This is at Hollister and Barnard Way in Santa Monica 90405 . . . the beach right in front of the parking lot - look for the cones
Boomer Fit Camps are only $15 per session and include plenty of personal evaluation and specific direction based on your needs and goals.
If you'd like to check in with John (he's also got some great stories of the stars he's worked with as a bit player in NY), give him a call at 310-946-9268
